Bank of Ireland Newry hold fraud awareness event

Bank of Ireland, Newry are holding a Fraud Awareness Event this Thursday 27 June in Newry Conference & Banqueting Centre, The Mall, Newry as part of their commitment to safeguarding the financial wellbeing of its customers and the wider community. The event runs from 9am to 11am and admission is free.

Speakers lined up for the event include:

• Allison Ewing, Fraud Customer Experience Manager, Bank of Ireland UK
• Peter McGahan, Journalist & CEO, Worldwide Financial Planning
• Tom Jameson, Crime Prevention Office, PSNI

The initiative is one element of Bank of Ireland UK’s comprehensive consumer fraud awareness programme which is designed to educate and inform consumers about fraud and how they can protect their finances and personal info from fraudsters.

Financial crime has many different forms, from fraudulent texts, emails and calls through to impersonation romance and purchase based scams but they all have one common goal – taking consumers money!

Gail Goldie, CEO of Bank of Ireland UK said “Through this series of fraud awareness events we want to make consumers more aware of the various types of fraud, what to do if they are ever a victim of fraud and how we are investing in fraud detection and prevention to protect them from financial criminals.”

“Our message to all consumers is clear – Stop, Think, Check. If something sounds too good to be true, it is. Be suspicious and keep your guard up.”
