Martin Lewis issues major car finance scandal update and says ‘watch this space’

Martin Lewis has said “watch this space” as he issued a major car finance mis-selling scandal update. The BBC Sounds podcast presenter and ITV regular took to Twitter, now X, on Thursday (May 16) to deliver the good news to drivers.

The Money Saving Expert founder said: “To all who haven’t had replies about car finance mis-selling. Next week we’re going to launch our 2nd survey on this to find the state of the nation for each firm, then figure through what to do. So pls watch this space.”

“Hi Martin, Am I to late to put a claim in for this ?” asked a motorist. Mr Lewis replied: “no use the tool on my website.” Twitter user Nicola said: “I’ve had an acknowledgement that my car finance did have commission added to it and it is going to be looked at but it is taking some time.

“I guess because so many people are applying.” Another said: “I used the site and email template, Honda confirmed i was not mis-sold and closed the complaint, but 3 cases with BMW i got a holding response, but after 8 weeks i have had no further communications”

John said: “Motonovo have stettled out of court with me, for the tune of £3080. Awaiting final figures from solicitors..” Kitty wrote: “I’ve had several replies from one firm, they just keep saying they are looking into it but won’t say if I have it or not yet.”

“Yorkshire Water are misogynistic, I can’t do anything about my water bill without my husband’s permission,” fumed another. Rhon said: “Vauxhall/Stellantis not doing very good job at responding. Currently have 20+ DSARs over 70 days with them.

“Complaints not much better.” And another, named Matt, wrote back to Mr Lewis saying: “What is the toothless finance regulator doing?”
