Tory betting scandal amid UK election campaign

Just when it looked like it couldn’t get any worse, it has.

The Conservative Party’s bid for re-election in the United Kingdom has taken another nosedive with the news that members of the Prime Minister’s inner circle may have placed bets on the timing of the election before it was announced.

Britain’s gambling regulator has launched an investigation into a number of people who placed bets on a July 4th poll in the days before it was called.

To make matters even worse – two of those under investigation are Conservative party candidates.
