Wedding photographer claims she can tell when a marriage is doomed from day one
Wedding photographer Shayla Herrington has witnessed enough people tying the knot to tell which couples will go the distance and those who won’t
Whenever a couple ties the knot, it’s fair to assume they’re doing so in the belief they will always be together. But, in actual fact, around 50 percent of marriages end in divorce, proving this is sadly not the case.
It most instances you would assume it’s impossible to tell whether the couple will go the distance, but according to a wedding photographer, the signs of future divorce bells are a lot less subtle than you’d think.
Shayla Herrington recently took to TikTok to share the three signs that a marriage is doomed from the very beginning, according to a wedding photographer of more than 15 years, who shared their wisdom with her.
Posting from the handle @shaylamherrington, Shayla explained: “One time I was shooting under this wedding photographer, and they told me they can always tell if a couple will last or not, based on three things.”

“Mind you this photographer has been in the industry for 10 or 15 years, so I was really interested to hear their theory on this,” she added.
The first sign, Shayla explained, is if one of the spouses takes more than three photos without their partner – which actually makes a lot of sense, if you think about it.
“This one kinda makes sense to me, just because you might get a few with your mom and dad, but to kick them out of more than three photos, seems a little suspicious,” she explained.
“The second indicator is the bridesmaids, or the groomsmen will avoid talking about the spouse when they are getting ready or doing toast or anything,” which she explained typically means they don’t like the spouse.
And finally, Shayla revealed that the third indicator the marriage will not last is when the couple spend more time with family and friends than with each other during the day.
The photographer then questioned her followers over whether they believed these indicators to be true, and many shared their own experiences of weddings and divorce.
“Yep. My ex-husband didn’t spend time with me at the wedding, and his groomsmen didn’t say hi to me at all,” one TikTok user commented, while another added: “It depends. My husband didn’t even MEET half my family until the wedding day so there wasn’t that relationship between him and my family.”
